Greyed "Lock" option for comments

I am unable to add text to my document. A textbox appears, but I am unable to type. The comments are automatically locked and the box labeled "locked" under properties is greyed out. I am able to use everything fine with someone else's account, but not my own.

I have the exact same problem except my text fields are unlocked and I want to lock them. I found out that I can't lock a "text comment", but I can a "text box". Is there a workaround for this?

Hey Scottwiebe!

The document you are referring above, do you own this one or it was created by someone else and shared with you?

It could be document's properties doesn't allow to make changes.

Check the steps suggested in related help article and see if there was something missed when you tried to do the same: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/using/comments.html

Thanks,

Hi Chrisa,

If the issue occurs with this particular document, please check if the document is locked.

It generally happens when the document is locked. Try once to save as the file to some other location.

Then try to add the comment and check if that works.

If it happens with all the PDFs, it may be possible that you have checked the box for lock and made it as a default property.

Try once to repair the installation or check the updates. Launch the application and go to Help > Repair Installation or Check for updates.

If nothing works as please reset the application preferences.  You may take help of the steps provided here How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.

Hope that helps.

Let us know if the issue persists.

Regards,

Meenakshi
