Guidance on Creating a Locked-Style Editable Newsletter Template

Hi Adobe Community,

I’m seeking advice on what I hope is a simple—but so far elusive—problem. I need to create an editable one-page newsletter template for a client. The client will update the content themselves in Adobe Acrobat, but all typography and layout must remain locked to brand standards.

Specifically, the design requirements include:

  • Article headlines: Gotham Bold, 14 pt, tracking 60, custom RGB value — styling must remain fixed and uneditable.

  • Body text: Gotham Book, 12 pt, black, with specific leading and justification (justified with last line left) — also locked from modification.

My initial approach was to build the layout in InDesign using text form fields, but that doesn’t seem to give me the control I need. I also tried Illustrator + Acrobat form fields, but I can’t find a way to enforce all of the type attributes such as leading and justification.

What is the best workflow to accomplish this—a template where clients can only replace the copy while all typography and layout remain fully consistent with the brand manual?

Any guidance, best practices, or step-by-step suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I’ve attached an image for reference.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Use Acrobat form fields.  Enforce justification with Rich Text Formatting and encrypt the template to prevent "changing the document".

@evanl55129969 so what happens if the client has more than 7 lines of text? Essentially that form field gets cut off!?!
