Help converting files

My application won't let me convert any files to a PDF. I get an error saying the file is not supported or the file is broken. The files are basic word docs or Jpegs. When I use the online Adobe converter, there are no issues. I've unistalled and reinsttaled adobe. I've also checked my latest updates and repaired the file. I still get this error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
