Hiding original template page

Hey Everyone,

Apologies for asking another question on this subject, I've read through other similar questions on the forum but could unfortunately not find the answer I seek.

My goal is to set a button on page 1 that spawns a (unique to the rest of the pdf) page 2, page 2 has a button that deletes page 2.

Page 2 should not be visible until the button on page 1 is clicked.

I can get the spawning functionality to work through templates, and I can also delete the page as I like.

However, I can not find how to hide the original page 2!

On top of that deleting the original page 2 also deletes the template I use to spawn the new ones, so It won't save the template in the document automatically.

Thank you in advance for any trouble to be taken.

I'm using Acrobat Pro DC to make the form and the final use will be on pdfExpert 6

edit1: I found that pdfexpert  6 doesn't allow template commands at all. So I'll have to find a way around this. For future reference, I'd like to know whether or not the hiding of an original template is possible.

Regular PDF pages cannot be hidden. Only templates can be hidden. If you look in the Acrobat Scripting reference for the template object properties you'll see there is one in there called "hidden". Setting this to true hides the page template.

I don't think you are handling the template correctly. A spawned page is a regular PDF page, and after spawning it has no connection to the template. The only way to delete a template page is for it to be visible and for that visible template page to be deleted.

So the correct methodology for using a page template is to keep it hidden. Then spawn pages from the hidden template. Or to use it as a regular page that you can show and hide. But it's not a good idea to do both with the same template.

PDF Expert is the best iPad PDF viewer, but it is not an Adobe Application, so it does it's own thing. Very few 3rd party PDF viewers handle page templates.  Further, iPad apps are very limited by nature and few mobile PDF viewers implement even a small portion of the PDF spec, much less something as detailed as page templates and the Adobe Acrobat specific scripting model.

So page templates are not usable on the iPad, nor are they likely to be usable in the near future.

Hey there Thom,

First off - thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I did indeed come tot he conclusion that the template approach would not work on pdf expert for this instance.

However if at some point the situation is different I'd like to know just how to hide the template page. As I was unable to figure out where to do the page hiding.
