Question

Highlight tool not transparent and covers text.

I've been using adobe acrobat pro on a windows pc for a few months now and the highlight tool had been working fine, and I assume, how it was intended. The properties have been set at 100% opacity the entire time but the text was still clearly visible behind the bright green color I use. However, recently I have been very frustrated because I did not change any settings and now my highlighter just covers up the text so it is unreadable. When I change the opactiy, the words become more visible as the opacity is lowered, but when the opacity is lowered, the color becomes very dull and almost unnoticable. This is clearly not how the highlight tool is supposed to work, since highlighters are obviously used to make certain text pop and attract eyes to that point. I do not want to lower the opacity because it was working fine at 100% opacity previously. My adobe acrobat pro is up-to-date, plus I have tried repairing installation and uninstalling then reinstalling the app and it is still not working correctly. Previously highlighted text looks perfectly fine still but this highlighter "glitch" occurs on every pdf that I open. The attachment I added shows numbers highlighted while it was working properly and how it is working now with the opacity starting at 100% and decreasing by 25% for the four that are clearly different. I would appreciate any suggestion that is not "lower the opacity".

Thank you.

Same problem here - Can we get a fix before the next upgrade?  Some of us use this feature every day and need it to complete our work.

Same problem here. Seems to be tied to the most recent update based on multiple users in our org facing the same issue.

Here's what seems to be working for me. I uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Reader and downloaded the classic version (as opposed to the continuous update version). See https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/classic/dcclassic2020base.html

For what it's worth, my highlighter tool is functioning as expected.  Windows, and up-to-date Acrobat Pro DC.

Interesting, and am following this thread.

It's the strangest thing.  It's as though the highlighter turned into a paint brush.  Here is a doc that I had highlighted before and then just tried again...

Agreed and it's incredibly frustrating as I use this tool all the time.

Following, as I have the same issue, although only with the free-form highlighting tool. If I highlight OCR text, the highlighting appears normal (100% opacity, text still fully visible). I'm also seeing that text added via the Comment tool appears at a diminished opacity. I use this tool every day and it has only recently stopped working as normal; I suspect the October update is the problem.
