Highlighting makes the previous slide visible

When I select text in Acrobat Reader, it makes the previous slide visible on top of the main slide, so I cannot see what I'm highligthing anymore. If I change slides and come back, it's gone but that makes the highlighting process quite hard. Is it an app problem?
