Highlighting text

(For Adobe developers especially) I use Adobe Acrobat Pro X to highlight text in PDFs and I typically need to use at least 4 different colors. It would be enormously helpful if the software would either allow me to add multiple "text highlight" icons--each set to a unique color--to the top menu bar or redesign the text highlight properties window so that I could pin it under the comment panel to the top menu bar so that it would show multiple “text highlight” icons--each set to a unique color.  As it is currently designed, it is incredibly tedious to change between highlight colors. If I’m missing something, please educate me.

I've just developed a tool that allows one to switch between colors for the Highlighter tool with a single click.

The admins of these forums frown on me posting direct links, so if someone is interested in this tool they can contact me privately via PM or email (the address is in my profile page).

If you display the Properties bar (Ctrl+E), you can change colors fairly quickly.

George, thank you for taking time to reply to my post but your suggestion is what I've been doing for years and I robustly disagree that it's quick. Given my workflow, it is anything but quick. I've completed the Features Request Form that Rahul pointed me to and, hopefully, Adobe developers will see the light.  Thanks again for your time!

OK, can't argue with that. Another option is the AutoInk plugin by Evermap: http://www.evermap.com/autoink.asp

One of its features is a Highlight Text toolbar which has exactly what you seem to want. And if you need smooth drawing, it's great for that too.

try67:  Your "Quickly Switch Between Highlighter Colors" add-on that you've developed to address this issue worked fine but the tweaks that you made per my feedback that truly made it a WONDERFUL tool for me. I'm most impressed with your responsiveness to my emails. This is what I was looking for--THANKS.
