How can I create an auto numbering field for distribution form

Question

Trying to create a form that will be distributed.

I'd like for one of the fields to automatically go up by 1 number every time it's submitted by any of the recipients in the order they were submitted (not the order I open them when returned)

willing to do either:

1. Sent it out once to multiple recipients (3-4 persons).

2. Send the form out each time it's needed.

End result should be the field go up by one number each time, would be even better if the recipient can view that next number as he/she is submitting (far fetched i'm sure).
