How can I insert a vector object (logo) into a pdf?

I'm trying to create a PDF and insert the logo for a company. I'd like to insert it as a vector so that it can be extracted later, but the options for inserting images don't allow any vector file types, and when I try to copy and paste the object directly from Illustrator, an unwanted white background is included. Is there any way to do this?

I know that I can just save it as a png, but I really want to retain the vector information. Thanks

Yes, from the Layers Palette on the left side of Acrobat, you can use the Import as Layer function to bring in existing PDF (vector saved from Illustrator or any other PDF content) as a new layer in your PDF file. You can position, scale, etc. that content. You can then flatten the layer into the rest of the page if so-desired.

Works like a charm (but a function that isn't well known about)!

Hello @Dov Isaacs, I can only import my vector (saved as pdf) as layer into an existing document, however:

  1. how do I import a vector file in high quality format into a PDF as a layer? The only acceptable formats that I can only import are standard image format like jpg, png etc., and pdf format. That means I will have convert my vector file into PDF then import it. Is there an alternate format in which I can import into an existing PDF as layer while it retains it being a vector? I don't want to import a converted .ai file to PNG as layer because it spoils the image quality.
  2. after importing an image as layer, I can't seem to manipulate it as in dragging or resizing it to a specific position. How do I do that?

Dov has left Adobe now... "That means I will have convert my vector file into PDF then import it"  Yes, why is that a problem? A vector PDF is a normal way to exchange vectors. Why do you say it converts to PNG or spoils the quality?
