    Hi Stephan,

You cannot repair a damaged pdf with Acrobat.

There are many 3rd party tools available like PDF Repair Toolbox. The Microsoft pdf database repair tool reads content of damaged files, analyzes them and saves data directly to a new database.

There  are various causes  of PDF file corruption such as Sudden Power failure, Virus attack, Improper downloading, System malfunction, Incorrect creation procedure, etc. According to your question, I would like to say that first, you should check your Adobe Acrobat version either it is updated or not. If it is not updated, then please update it because sometimes it happens that your prior version of Adobe Reader does not support subsequent editions of PDF files.

With the help of mention below steps, one can easily repair their corrupted files-

Steps to repair corrupt PDF file: -

    Step 1: Launch the program.

Step 2: Firstly, check the program is up to date or not.

Step 3: Now, click to help option-> then go to option Check for updates.

Step 4: A small window will appear with a text detail, you can check the program setup is up to date or not. If there are awaiting updates, then proceed and install them.

Still If your problem is not short-out,  you can use any third party tool which you could get easily from the web.  In my opinion, go for  PDF recovery tool as it recovers highly corrupted PDF file with great ease.

    Thanks & Regards
