How can I use the page number as a watermark in Acrobat?

My PDF is a tiled document (many artboards created in illustrator in one PDF file) that needs to be assembled. Rather than putting the page number in the header or footer, I would like to use it as a watermark, centered on each tile. Is it possible to do that in Acrobat Pro?

Yes, but it would require a custom-made script that will calculate the correct location for each number and then output it using a form field or an annotation. It will need to take into account the number of tiles per page, the page size, as well as order in which the tiles are laid out on the page.
