Question

How can reviewers insert or replace text in a shared review?

All of our "power reviewers" have Adobe Acrobat DC or Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. These give everyone access to all text editing options including insert and replace text.  When we do a shared review through Document Cloud or Creative Cloud, they only get a limited number of text editing tools in the browser, but even when I open in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, the editing tools remain limited. The use of comment bubbles has grown exponentially without a simple way to insert text. Our copywriter is having to reenter edits on larger documents directly into a new document using the full tool set in order for the edits to be acceptable for designers.

Please, please, please, someone tell me there is a way to do a shared review that gives our reviewers access to insert and replace text options. Please?

My organization is updating its software from Acrobat Pro XI to Pro DC, and we are shocked that shared reviews don't allow replace/insert text editing. I see this issue has been going on for quite some time, has anyone found a workaround solution? I chatted with support yesterday and the only solution was everyone reviewing individually and importing all the comments afterwards (which defeats the purpose of simultaneous reviewing).

There is not. I have tried the shared review with the same experience. That’s how it’s designed. I have not found an acceptable solution for shared reviews. I share PDFs with my clients via Dropbox, then the reviewers each mark up a copy using Acrboat (desktop). Then I combine all their comments using FDF files. It a pain, and them can’t all comment on the same document in real time, but at least they can use the full tool set.
