How do I add CLOSE and SAVE AS to Acrobat XI Pro toolbar?

Hi,

I have just installed the Acrobat XI Pro version and am struggling with customizing my toolbar. It used to be easier, but now after every "Show/hide" the menu list closes, so you have to backtrack and start all over again, eg View - Show/Hide - Toolbar items - Page Navigation - First page: then it shuts down, and I have to backtrack and repeat to select View - Show/Hide - Toolbar items - Page Navigation - Last page. NOT exactly user-friendly!

Now I am not finding the basic functions CLOSE and SAVE AS from the File menu to add as toolbar items - why are they not available? Or am I simply not finding them? I constantly open a batch of 3-10 PDFs to review and depending on the review, either Close or Save as... Does this version require me to go to File - Close or File - Save as - 40-100 times a day? Or use shortcut keys - which some people enjoy, but I prefer to customize my toolbars with my most frequently used functions like Open, Save, Save as, Close etc. But in the File list their icons are missing....

Can anyone solve this for me, please? I am positive the functions must exist, as I can see no reason why they would have been deleted...

I figured out how to add the "Save As" icon to the Quick Tool bar at the left of the document.

Open a PDF file.

Go to the Quick Tool Bar.

Click the 3 dots at the bottom.

Select "Customize Toolbar"

Scroll down to "Save & Export".

Click the drop-down arrow.

Click on the "Save As" and a little blue check mark will be placed beside it. Then, click on the little Plus in the Circle with the arrow:

That moves it to your Quick Tool Bar to the immediate left of your document:

Click on "Save" and you're all set!

As far as the "Close" I simply click the "X" at the right of the name of the document on the document tab.:

When I click the three dots and them Customize Toolbar, nothing happens... there is no drop down menu???

It's possible to use a script to add those commands to the Tools panel, and from there you can create a shortcut to the Quick Tools toolbar (the one that appears directly under the menu-bar).

If it turns out you can't add them, you might find the shortcut Ctrl+F4 useful (Command+W on a Mac), to close the current document window. I use this constantly. Works in almost all apps.
