how do I add trademarks to text while editing a document

Just to clarify, you are editing text by adding the ™ ?

I usually copy-paste it. You have access to it depending on your keyboard (physical input device = you might be able to get it using a set of keystrokes) and regional (set in your operating system).

I often copy it from MS Word (Insert > Symbols (icon) > ™ then using the text edit tool (not commenting) I paste it where needed. Be careful as editing in Acrobat is not as successful as editing in the original file used to create the PDF, The text might flow in unexpected way.

You can also the 'virtual' keyboard included in your operating ssytem
