How do I change a pdf into a searchable pdf?

I receive pdf's via email and want to store them in a digital filing cabinet. But I want the pdf content to be searchable.

I don't want to print it off and then scan it as a searchable pdf and then store it.

Is there a way of doing this?

sorry i ve mixed the content up.

1/ the pdf s i am sent via email. can I tell if it's searchable?

2/ I save these pdf's into my pc, the pdf's with typed content, can i save them to be searchable in my Acrobat Reader DC product?

3/ if not which product would i need and can i buy it in a 1 off payment?

Thank you for any comments

Acrobat Reader can't convert non-searchable into searchable files.

For this you need Adobe Acrobat.

When the document is protected no Adobe product will help you.

I'm having problems because it's a bank statement pdf the security of it doesn't allow modification or anything.  So it doesnt appear to be available.
