How do I change the default from Adobe Acrobat DC to Adobe Pro 9 in Internet Explorer 11?

I have installed both Adobe Acrobat DC and Adobe Pro 9.  I also use Internet Explorer 11 as a standard in our organization.  Right now when I open a PDF, it defaults to Adobe Acrobat DC, but I need the default to be Adobe Pro 9.  This is what I have done so far:

1) I have uninstalled Adobe Acrobat DC (which is still required)

2) I have right clicked a PDF and stated to use Adobe Pro 9 as the default program for PDF's.

3) I have gone into Tools, manage add-ins and tried to make sure that Adobe 9 was listed.

4) When I open the PDF now, a new window (pop) like before appears, but it is blank with a black outline as though there is no association to any PDF acrobat or reader application.

Any thoughts on how to proceed?

Thank you.

Acrobat 9 and Acrobat DC cannot be concurrently installed and operate correctly. Why do you believe you want/need both versions?

Acrobat Reader runs the preview panel in file explorer, so if you want to be able to preview your pdfs, you need Reader. But Adobe seems to have skillfully disabled all the methods for selecting Acrobat Pro as your default (at least on older versions), so you have to do it each time you open a pdf.  I'm losing faith in Adobe by the minute.

Your response has absolutely nothing to do with the original question or any of the responses. If you have some other problem, please post in a new thread!

Very good question, Dov.  We actually do not.  I have uninstalled Adobe DC on my own laptop to continue troubleshooting.  So now I have only Adobe Pro 9 on my laptop and when I try to see a PDF, I get the blank screen that was in my original post.  Any ideas?

If you had Acrobat 9 installed and then installed Acrobat DC and then uninstalled Acrobat DC, you probably have a corrupted Acrobat 9 installation at this point since this software was absolutely not designed to be concurrently installed and used.

At this point, I would uninstall Acrobat 9 completely, reboot, and reinstall Acrobat 9, letting it apply all available updates to Acrobat 9.
