How do I make the Save button perform a Save rather than a Save As without disabling protected mode?

By default when I click the Save button Adobe Acrobat performs a Save As, I assume this is some sort of dark pattern to trick users into buying their cloud storage.

If I disable protected mode, Save works as expected (no folder explorer appears), but what if I want to keep protected mode?

Has anyone worked out how to have protected mode and still have Save work as expected?

@janm88329251 you nailed it on the head. There is no official, supported way to have both Protected Mode enabled and have the "Save" function work as it does when it's disabled. The most common solution remains to either disable Protected Mode or learn to live with the "Save As" dialogue (aka trust the "Save As" dialogue!)
