Question

How do I remove the "Move page controls out of toolbar" button from Adobe Acrobat?

Good day all,

So I regularly have to use Adobe for work and am on multiple monitors and documents.  As such I am moving at high speed back and forth and regularly accidentally click on the "Move page controls out of toolbar" button when going to select "More Tools" for page controls.  This doesn't just "move" the tools, it completely REMOVES them (which once done, to the best of my knowledge can't be undone) and you then have to reselect all your tools individually (which takes forever as you can only do them one at a time).  At a glance without thinking, the icon even looks like it is what you would think a page selection drop down icon would look like.

I run Windows

I use "Acrobat Pro - Enterprise"

Version 2025.001.20937 (64-bit)

How do I remove this button?

Hi impressive_member8897,

Thank you for reaching out.

From the screenshot shared above, it seems that you are using the Acrobat Classic interface. There is no default option to remove the tool from the toolbar.

You may try switching to the new Acrobat experience. Please refer to the following help document for more information on the latest Acrobat experience: https://adobe.ly/4rMp1jp

Feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Good afternoon,

Thankyou for the response.

I'm not going to lie, I was a little disappointed when I saw that there isn't a capability in the classic interface.  When the new update originally installed I intentionally returned to the classic interface because the new one was incredibly difficult to use.  I found its set up and application very jarring due to the complete change of everything overnight from the layout to the design and icons (when the 'update' came out) and nothing was easily explained or located.  Also from a purely aesthetic point of view I prefer the classic view.

So, if I were to switch to the new interface there are a few things that would need to happen.

1) Can you guaranty that I can remove the offending "Move page controls out of toolbar"?

2) Can I customise my top tool bar in a way that suits my functionality?

3) Can the "share" icons be actively removed?

4) Has the highlighting issue been fixed? (Once I use the "highlight text" function on something I am unable to then click and drag to highlight the text for copying and pasting.  It just sticks a stupid box over the text thereby effectively negating either access to the text, or negating use of the "highlighting text" function since it blocks access to the text afterwards.)

Sorry these may be things that are actually easy fixes that I am not privy to, but when I first turned on Adobe to find everything different without warning, I was pretty annoyed and just needed to be able to do my work so I went back to the classic as I knew how it worked and had it set up.  I'm the type of person that likes things to be set up precisely, and having to change for no perceived benefit or improvement left me in a position where I preferred the classic.

Hi impressive_member8897,

In the new Acrobat experience:

1. There will be no "Move page controls out of toolbar" option. You get a floating toolbar on the left-hand side of the window for easy access to tools.

2. Yes, you do get the option to customize the toolbar as per your needs. Please refer to the following help document: https://adobe.ly/451Zqcj;

3.  There is a single share option in the new Acrobat. For more information, refer to the following help document: https://adobe.ly/3Mri9Yy.

4. Could you please share more information on the issue that occurred with highlighting text? Currently, there is no issue with the highlighting text.

You can always switch back to classic using the "Disable new Acrobat" under the Menu in the new Acrobat.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Meenakshi
