How do I stop lines becoming filled shapes when exporting a PDF to EPS in Acrobat?

Hi, I have opened a PDF of a floor plan in Acrobat and turned off some layers. I have then exported this to EPS and then opened the EPS in Illustrator. However, the lines that make up the floor plan have become filled shapes when I open the EPS in Illustrator. How can I preserve the lines?
