How do I turn off the auto pdf open from Edge?

Hi,

So I've researched the above a lot and tried the settings in the browser and also inside Adobe Acrobat itself.

None of it works, all of it is currently turned off. I've tried turning them on and off in different combinations, restarting etc. etc. yet Acrobat opens, lags the hell out of my PC and is driving me up a wall.

It's a work computer so no access to registry etc.

Please assist.

Thanks

I find this works for me, other might want to see if below work for you:

Open Adobe and in the upper left corner under Menu, select Preferences, then General and uncheck Always open PDFs from printer.  And uncheck Always open PDFs saved from the web.  See my sample screen shot below.

  • Open your Windows Settings application from the Start button. If you don't see it in your Pinned applications display, click on the All button, navigate your way down to Settings and open the application from there.
  • Select the Apps option in the options bar at left, then select the Default Apps option among the list at right.
  • In the Default Apps dialog, type .pdf in the edit box below Set a default for a file type or link type. Then click the magnifying glass, if needed, to call up the default app for opening PDF files.
  • Since your PDF files are opening in Microsoft Edge, it likely shows that as your default app. Click on the icon, and the Select a default app for .pdf files dialog box will open.
  • Inside the dialog, the Default App with Suggested Apps and More Options selections show applications that Windows recognizes for opening .pdf files. Most likely, you will see your Acrobat installation among those options. If not, scroll to the bottom of the dialog box and select the Choose an app on your PC hyperlink, which will let you navigate your way to the Acrobat.exe command in your system (found in [boot drive]\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat DC\[Acrobat type Installed]).

Hope this helps,
