Question

How do you fix Adobe Acrobat pdfmaker so it doesn't ask for the filename twice

This continues to be a problem and I have not found any results on this topic. I have see it dating back to 2013.

Acrobat and Office 2010 worked when you would right click on a file and it would convert to PDF in the same directory as the source file quietly.

Now, this happens:

1. right click, Convert to PDF

2. Prompt for "Save Adobe PDF File As (in the current directory).  Click Save

3. MS Word 2016 launches

4. Second prompt for Save PDF File As, but this time on Desktop or somewhere other than the original file.

5. Click Save after having to navigate and find the original directory again

6. PDF creates

How do you fix this so it doesn't prompt for the "Save As" twice?

Hi Mmott,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Thanks for sharing the detailed steps. Looking at the steps mentioned above, it works exactly same as explained in 1 & 2.

However, once the MS word doc is converted to the pdf, it doesn't or shouldn't open the MS word file again.

I assume the steps 4 & 5 has been performed by the MS word itself, and its generating the pdf through its own pdf generator. its not Acrobat's mechanism.

Working on the latest version Acrobat DC (19.008.20080), you should get the prompt only once for saving the converted word file to pdf.

Open Acrobat>Help>Check for Update

For better understanding, please share the screenshot of the second screen that you get (as explained above)
