I have an standard Adobe Acrobat 6.0 version and I want to convert a received pdf text document into a word doc so that I can edit it.  I can't find the "change conversion settings" selection in any of the menu tabs?  Do you know where it is?  In addition, if you know the best way to accomplish this than I would appreciate all the instructions.

Thanks

Rick

You will find the menu entry "change conversion settings" in the Adobe PDF menu

    of MS Word.

    Bon dia Rick,

Acrobat 6 Standard permits adding tags to an untagged PDF.
I do not recall which of the drop downs it is under.
Meander through them to locate it. Use it on a trial copy of your PDF.
Save it; then, Save As to *.doc or *.rtf.

    Be well..

You use Save As under the file menu and select DOC (I think that AA6 had that option). If not you can try to save as HTML or simply TXT. Do not expect great results in the conversion. You will likely have to redo all of the formating. The newer versions of Acrobat do a better job, but a lot depends on the tagging. If there tags created from the original WORD document, you may have a chance of saving the format. If there was no tagging, you will likely lose all formating.

The conversion settings will either be at the bottom (button) of the save as screen or in the EDIT>Preferences>PDF to appl, or in both places. There are not a lot of choices and as I mentioned you should not expect perfection - you won't get it.

Change conversion settings is utilized when you are creating a PDF from a Word file and are found from the Acrobat menu near the Help menu in Word.  If you want to create a Word file from a PDF then you need to Export from the file menu.  Or possibly Save As and choose .doc.  It has been so long since I have used Acrobat 6 that I may be a little fuzzy on the details.

    Bill:
Thanks for the reply.  When I try to export the PDF that I received to word or save as a word doc, I get the following message: When the pdf was created, the content was not tagged.  You must select "change conversion settings" from the Adobe PDF menu and check the box labeled "enable accessibility and reflow tagged PDF".
My question is that I still cannot find the menu that contains "change conversion settings"?
