How to Choose the Right Toner Cartridge for Home and Office Printing?

​@Blissful_uniquenessed4d Currently, I own an Epson printer and in the past I have owned an HP printer both laser and inkjet. If your printer is within the warranty period, I would use the OEM toner cartidges. And if you are wanting to save a buck or two, you could use after-market toner after the warranty is over. I would say sometimes using after-market cartridges can be a hit and miss compared to a OEM cartidge. I do prefer the OEM if you plan to keep your printer longer than usual as the after-market could have ink spillage (very rare) but has happened to me with my HP printer. Use whatever is comfortable with knowing that an after-market could ruin your printer. Granted, some printers are cheaper than the toner prices! 

After spending half a day vacuuming out my laser printer because of a knockoff toner cartridge, I buy Canon factory cartridges for my laser printer. 

One thing I will say though, is after years of recommending HP laser printers to clients is their proprietary inkjet and laser cartridges have me steering folks away from buying those printers now.  I believe the chip-registered cartridges have let HP jack up the prices of their consumables to oppressive levels, and I do everything in my power to keep my clients from falling into that trap.

I usually look at printer compatibility, page yield, and cost per page first. For regular home or office printing, a good compatible cartridge can be a reasonable option, but I’d also check reviews for print quality and reliability. For important documents, OEM cartridges may still be worth the extra cost.
