How to Disable Outlook Add-in Permanently

I am trying to remove the following two Add-Ins from Outlook:

  • Adobe PDFMaker Office COM Addin
  • Adobe Document Cloud for Microsoft Outlook - Acrobat

I do not wish to use either, and they actually cause Outlook to freeze completely.

Disabling them from the Add-Ins, as suggested in the threads below, does not work permanently - the Add-Ins keep reactivating on their own.

I have already read the following threads, but none provide an actual solution to the reactivate, apart from users providing custom instructions and scripts to trick the Adobe product. Is there an reliable way to prevent Adobe from reinstalling these Add-ons?

    I can confirm that the two Add-ins are re-enabled each time I launch Adobe Acrobat.

    • Open Outlook;
    • Disable the Adobe Add-Ins;
    • Close Outlook;
    • Open Outlook - observe that the Adobe Add-Ins are still disabled;
    • Close Outlook.

    Then:

    • Open Adobe Acrobat
    • I get prompted: “Acrobat PDFMaker add-in for PDF creation is currently disabled in one or more Office application. Would you like to re-enable the add-in for all these applications?” with options
      • [ ] Do not show this message again
      • Yes | No
    • At that point, while this dialog is still open and unanswered:
      • Open Outlook
      • I observe that the Add-Ins are already enabled even though I did not confirm anything yet.
    • Answer the prompt in Adobe Acrobat with “No”
    • Observe that the Add-Ins remain enabled anyway.

    This looks to me like a bug - the Add-Ins should not be enabled until I answer Yes. Click No + [x] Do not show this message again should let them unattended until I reset my warnings.

    Is anyone else seeing this?

    If the add-ins keep coming back after you disable them, they may be getting re-enabled by an Adobe update or Creative Cloud repair process. You could try disabling the Acrobat Outlook integration from the Acrobat or Creative Cloud settings instead of only disabling it in Outlook. If Outlook is still freezing, you can also uninstall Acrobat, restart the PC, and reinstall it without the Outlook integration if that option is available. If the add-ins keep returning after that, it may be worth checking with Adobe Support since it could be tied to the current Acrobat version.

    They probably are, but how do I disable that? I have disabled

    • Launch Creative Cloud at login (off)
    • Run Creative Cloud in the background after closing (off)
    • Automatically keey Creative Cloud up to date (off)
    • Auto-update is ticked on (and I cannot disable it - it is grayed out)

    How? I do not see anything related to Outlook in Creative Cloud or in Acrobat Reader

    This is on a freshly installed PC

    This is exactly why I am here :)

    Not sure if you can permanently disable them, but I have no problems with Outlook freezing.

    Are you using the new or old Outlook? (I’m on the old version.)
