Question

How to disable page number label when scrolling

Hello,

My Adobe Acrobat was recently updated, and now there is a small box popping up showing the page number and following the slider, whenever I scroll. When I stop scrolling it disappears again.

The problem is that if I scroll in the side next to the pop up, and my pointer accidentally points at the label as I scroll, it will stop scrolling as ‘I am now pointing at the label’ (I am guessing) – which is quite annoying.

Does anyone know if I can disable this pop up diplsaying the page number? I also find it a bit silly, as the page number is already displayed on the right side of the application either way.

    Hi Philip321,

Thank you for the information and the video.

This appears to be expected behaviour with the touchpad. However, we will check with the team if there is anything that can be done in this case.

We will let you know once we have more information.

    Thaks,

    Meenakshi

    Dear Meenakshi

You’re welcome. Thank you for looking into this, I appreciate that.

I am a bit surprised that this is expected behaviour, as, as far as I understand, it is just a label made for display of the page number, so to me it should just be in the background not affecting the scrolling as seen when using the up and down arrow keys. And currently it is interfering with the scrolling when using the trackpad (for no reason, it sounds like).

I hope we can figure out a solution to this issue, I look forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,
    Philip

    Hi Philip321,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble caused.

To clarify, are you using the up and down keys on your keyboard to move the scroll bar? As described, when the scroll bar reaches the position of the cursor, does scrolling stop? Is that correct?

We attempted to replicate the behaviour. However, from our side, it scrolls without any issues, even when it reaches the point where the cursor is placed; it simply passes through it.

Please repair the installation and ensure the application is up to date. In Acrobat, navigate to Menu > Help > Repair Installation or Check for Updates.

If you continue to experience this issue, please provide the version numbers of Acrobat and your operating system. Additionally, include a short video demonstrating this behaviour in a full window.

Let us know if you need any help.

    Thanks,

    Meenakshi

    Dear Meenakshi

Thank you very much for your reply!

For clarification, I am not using the up and down arrow keys, I am using the touchpad on my MacBook to scroll up and down – so I am only using my fingers, with the cursor placed casually in the right side.

Yes, that is correctly understood. Once I scroll down (or up) using the touchpad, and my mouse incidentally is in the same place as the label from the scroll bar, the scrolling stops immediately. When my cursor is not near the label of the scroll bar, everything works fine, and I can scroll using the touchpad without any issues.

I do however see, that if I use the up and down arrow keys, this issue is not present – but I do prefer to use the touchpad for scrolling, so I hope we can figure out a solution for this issue.
