Question

How to disable security warnings when using links?

I made a text document in Word and saved it as a PDF-file. In this documents are links to attachements, mainly .jpg documents. When I click such a link, I get security warnings (see attachments). When I click Allow and OK, the attachment opens, but it's annoying. How do I disable / prevent these warnings? I suppose that I can do this in the settings of Acrobat Reader. I tried to do this using these help instructions:

https://helpx.adobe.com/nl/acrobat/using/allow-or-block-links-internet.html

https://helpx.adobe.com/nl/acrobat/using/attachments-security-risks-reader-acrobat.html

restarted the PC, but I didn't succeed.

Can anybody help?

Hello Barb,

Thank you very much again for replying. I'm heading now in the right
direction, but still not successful. I now found the attachment button at
the right side of the screen. When I click that button, I should get a list
of all my attachments (like your red barn.jpg), but no. The list is empty.
That's probably because my 180 attachments are stored in a separate folder
with subfolders. Hyperlinks in the PDF-document refer to them. When I use
the search option, the search is executed in the PDF-file itself, but that
has no sense.

With kind regards

This is a visual representation of the instructions:

Once done, it will not ask you again about anything with the .jpg extension.

Hello Barb,

Thank you very much for replying. No, I did not. That's because I didn't
understand the instructions. They talk about a window at the right side of
the screen with attachments. I cannot find that window.

I learn from you that I must change Acrobat Reader settings to solve my
problem. And that I must add extension types of the documents I use to the
white list of extensions. I cannot find that white list, so I cannot check
which extensions are default on that list. I should think that .jpg and
.jpgs are default on that list. The only thing that I can see is that the
white list has not been changed since installing the Acrobat Reader program.
So, if .jpgs is not default on that list, then it's still not on that list.

Would you be so kind to provide me with instructions (in other words than in
the help text) how to check and alter the white list of extensions? I would
be most grateful.

With kind regards

Hi @Captain_Hans:

Can you confirm that you followed these steps to add .jpgs to the white list?
