Question

how to export a PDF form as FDF or XFDF

I am wanting to use a PDF form that will be completed by the end user and then submitted to a web server. I am now aware that this is more complicated than anticipated.

I have set the button 'Action' setting to 'Submit a form' and have tested the various options using:- FDF/XFDF/PDF The complete document/HTML... but with no success.

What I am hoping to achieve is once the end user submits the form ( data ). is the ability to ideally import the data back into a blank copy of the form or into a database.

I am completely ignorant to FDF/XFDF files. Subsequently I have searched forums on information on how to achieve my goal but with no success. From what I have read it seems I might need a CGI script of some kind to achieve this.

I have a PHP/MySQL database on the server if this can be implemented in any way.

I would be grateful for any guidance with this.

Thanks in advance.

Thans for this Bernd, it is now clear that what I want to achieve is way above my capabilities and would need help in developing this. ( any idea where I would look to find developers if I wanted to contract out this project? )

I tried to locate the 'Acrobat FDF Toolkit SDK Download where there is apparently 'Sample CGI scripts' which is mentioned in the write up you linked me to, but I couldn't find it. Would this be of help to me or not?

Also.. Would I benefit from joining one of the Adobe Partners?

Thanks in Advance.
