So I am working on editing a pdf document and I want to save a picture from the pdf as a separate file.

How can I do that?

No, it does not slice. This must mean that the image is already sliced in the PDF, which happens very often. You would need to extract the slices and rejoin them.

Go to Tools> Export PDF> Image> Export all images. Or-

Tools> Edit PDF> select an image and use Photoshop as the image editor, save the image from Photoshop.

It slices the original images.

How to get the image of a full page?

Your best option may be to open the PDF in Photoshop and save it as an image. You could also try an Acrobat preflight fixup (Tools> Print Production> Preflight> Fixups> Detect & merge image fragments), although in my experience, it does not always work.
