Question

how to force Adobe Acrobat Pro 10 as default to open PDFs instead of Acrobat Reader DC

I own Adobe Acrobat Pro 10. I downloaded Acrobat Reader DC because of it's PDF markup capabilities. I've gone into setting default apps, and PDF is set so Adobe Acrobat Pro will open PDFs. However, Reader DC insists on opening them instead. Early on, Reader DC asked me if I wanted it to be the default. I said NO!

Is there a solution to this?

Thank you,

Skye

Reader DC doesn't have any markup capabilities that Acrobat doesn't have.

If your operating system is Windows, you can right-click on a PDF's icon, and choose Open with... and Choose another app.

From the next dialog box, identify Acrobat Pro as your app, and be sure to check the Always use this app to open .pdf files.

This should fix the issue.

My best,

Dave

Hi Dave,
Yes, I can open it that way, thank you. helpful, but annoying to have to do
that every time. But your next suggestion--there was no "next dialog
box"--no way to try and set it permanently.

Hmmm.  What version of Windows (it is Windows, yes?) are you running?  You should still have the "Always use this app..." option there.
