How to mke multiple lines permanent with check box pages.

We have filable PDF's, however the pages that appear from check boxes have limited room in the comments boxes. They are currently only allowing text to be written in one line that disappears outside the box. I can get them to become multiple lines using the Prepare Form and then Properties option however it doesn't stay when I uncheck the box to reduce the pages and save. How can I make it permanent.
