How to put text over White-Out

**RESOLVED**: I used the ‘Add a text comment with a border’ tool and filled it with the color white. I then just flatten the PDF so it can’t be modified.

In older versions, there used to be an option to add a text box with a background color. This was an effective way to white out unwanted areas while also writing text over them. That option doesn’t seem to be available anymore.

The only alternative I have found is putting a white box (fill) over the unwanted sections, saving and exiting out of the PDF, and then putting text over it.

Is there a single tool that can achieve the same effect?

E.g. I would like the text to be on top of the box, not be covered by it.

I think you’ll find redaction works better for replacing text in this way. But you can also edit text in a PDF.  Both are better options that covering text with a text box comment.

Do you mean text box comments?

Keep in mind that this will not hide the underlining text. Anyone with Reader can edit the comment.

Kind of like that. But to resolve that, I just flatten the PDF.
