I have a document that displays the standards icon in the navigation pane. How do I remove it from the navigation pane? Please see screenshots below. One document does not have the standards icon in the navigation pane and the other one does.

Don't save it as a PDF/A file (or something similar).

There are a number of icons which appear only if they are relevant. In this case, if the file claims conformance to PDF/A or PDF/X standards, the icon appears. It's a time saver to save needing to click to check.

How do I edit the document so that the standards icon does not appear?

Sorry, this makes no sense to me. Saving a PDF to a standard shows care and attention to detail, a commitment to making a good quality PDF. What specifically do you dislike about the standards icon?
