How to return to original pdf document from a url hyperlink?

How do you return to the original pdf document from a url hyperlink.  When I close the hyperlink, it stays in the browser and does not return to the pdf document the hyperlink originated from.  Most annoying. Usually when you open in a new window, it automatically returns to the document of origin.

    Not possible, since they are two different applications (Adobe Acrobat and the browser you're using), unless you opened the PDF in the browser. In that case, it's an issue with the browser settings, not related to Acrobat.

    Thank you for this information.  How do programs like Mailchimp, Canva, Word and websites create bi-directional hyperlinks?  I use these often so I am confused as to why it is not possible within Adobe.  I apologize for my limited knowledge.  I appreciate your expertise.

    There's no such thing as a bi-directional link. If it's a link within the same application then you simply get re-directed to the last tab or window that was open when you close the current one. If it goes to another application that won't happen, normally.
