How to stop Adobe Acrobat from resetting default PDF browser?

It seems that every time Adobe Acrobat has an update, it forcibly puts itself as the default PDF browser instead of respecting the current settings. How do I stop this annoying behaviour?

    Hello @Dannehh,

I hope you are doing well, and thank you for reaching out. We're sorry for the trouble you had with the app.

Please note that there is currently no supported way to permanently lock or preserve the “Always open PDFs downloaded from the web” setting across Adobe Acrobat updates. You can use the Adobe Wish form to file a feature request with the product team and provide your feedback directly to them: https://adobe.ly/49xFTml

    Hello @Anand Sri Bhattacharya ,

This is a different question than  “Always open PDFs downloaded from the web”. What I am asking is how to avoid Adobe Acrobat from resetting the default PDF browser without my permission. Is there a way to do this?

    Kind regards,

    Danny

    Hello @Dannehh

Please note that Adobe Acrobat does not forcibly override your system’s default PDF application. Default file associations (like which app opens PDFs) are controlled by the operating system (Windows/macOS), not Acrobat itself.

Currently, there is no Adobe setting that permanently “locks” this behaviour if another browser update or extension changes it again.

    Regards,

    Anand Sri.
