How to use custom fixup when creating an action

Hello,

I have created a custom PreFlight fixup that I frequently use to rescale PDF documents.

But I am unable to use this fixup when creating an action inside Acrobat. The custom fixup doesn't appear on the list of fixups when creating the action.

It seems that the list of fixups available when creating an action is an incomplete list. Many of the fixups that are available when using the Preflight tool are missing from those available when creating an action.

I don't know why this is but I've noticed that the fixups that have text in the "Usage" box (accessible at the bottom of the dialog box when editing a fixup) are available in Actions while those that are missing this data are not. And there seems to be no way to add this text to my custom fixup or, in fact, to any fixup that doesn't already have this info.

Can anyone tell me how to add usage text to my custom fixup? Or, more precisely, can anyone tell me how I can use my custom fixup in an action?

You've probably figured this out by now, but the solution is that the custom fixup must be a part of a profile. That is what the Usage text is saying - "this fixup is used by X profile".

To get it to work I went to the Profiles tab in Preflight and created a new profile. Make sure you're not on the wrench fixup button. You have to be on the leftmost button with the box containing both the wrench and the magnifying glass. The tooltip says "Select Profiles".

Once there, you can choose "Create Profile..." from the Options button on the top right.

In here you will see your new profile (likely listed as 'New Profile 1') under Custom Profiles on the top left.

Open the disclosure triangle on the left and select "Custom fixups" in the list. Then on the right you will see the whole list of fixups. Select your custom fixup and then click the left arrow at the bottom of the fixup window to add it to the profile and click 'OK'.

Now the fixup is used by a profile and will be available to the Actions Wizard.

You likely don't have to create a new profile to do this, it will probably work just adding it to any exisiting profile, but I wanted to keep my naming conventions to all line up and it worked for me that way.
