I'm trying to create a PDF document that I can have people sign on an iPad mini 4, however when I open the document the signature field doesn't work.

Hi Shaun,

Thanks for reaching out. With InDesign, you can add Signature field and export the document to Interactive PDF. To do that please try the following steps:

  • Place a frame at the location where you want to place the Signature field.
  • Open the Buttons and Forms panel (Windows > Interactive > Buttons and Forms).
  • Select the frame and choose Signature Feild from the Type list.

  • Enter a name for the form field.
  • Choose an event and add actions to associate with it.
  • Export the file to Interactive PDF (File > Export > Interactive PDF).

Once the PDF is created, users can sign using Fill and Sign or Adobe Sign. Click on the following links for the video tutorials:

Please note that opening the file in Fill and Sign will make the file flat.

If you are following the correct procedure and it's still not allowing you to sign the PDF, I would request if you can share the following details:

  • Is it happening with this particular file? Try creating a new sample file check if that works.
  • Please confirm which application you are using to sign the Form?

Looking forward to your response!

Regards,

Srishti
