Question

Hyperlink redirects to wrong website

Hi,

I'm having a problem with the links inside a PDF. I am currently modifying a PDF on Acrobat online and I need to change some shortened links (in shorturl) with new shortened links (in tinyurl) as some expired. The problem is that for many of them, despite showing https://tinyurl.com/... it still redirects to the previous shorturl link. I alredy tried copy and pasting the new url, or deleting the old and typing the new one but for some it still doesn't work. How can I solve it?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out, and I'm sorry to hear you're running into trouble with updating the links in your PDF.

It sounds like the visible text of the hyperlink is updating correctly, but the actual hyperlink behind the text might still be pointing to the old (shorturl) address. This can happen if only the display text is changed, but the link itself isn't updated.

Here’s what you can try:

  • Use the Link Tool:
Open PDF in Acrobat desktop application, Go to Edit tool > Add or edit link
  • Double-click on the link to open link properties > click on Actions  > Edit
  • Delete the entire hyperlink.
  • Then, enter the new link there and check.

Save and Reopen the File: After making changes, try saving and reopening the PDF to ensure the changes are properly applied.

Hi Amal,

Thank you for the answer! Unfotunately, I cannot use the desktop application, is there a way to solve the problem with the online tool?

Thank you!
