What exactly do you mean by “connect a pdf file to Acrobat?”

If all you are trying to do is send a PDF file via e-mail, simply treat the PDF file as an attachment. Depending upon your e-mail client, either drag-and-drop the PDF file onto an e-mail message you are preparing or use the attachment tool to point to the PDF file within your file system such that the client can attach it to the e-mail. As an alternative, in Acrobat you can use

     File=>Send File=>Attach to Email

to cause Acrobat to invoke your e-mail client, create a new e-mail with the currently open PDF file as an attachment, and then open the e-mail client for you to customize the e-mail and send it.
