I am using a MacBook pro/Mojave 10.14.4 and I reinstalled adobe acrobat reader DC.

I am able to open all types of docs on my Mac but when making backups on my hard drive I am unable to open pdf documents. This is happening on both a Seagate and G-drive. Apple tech support second level spent an hour with me clarifying it was not an Apple issue and suggested I call ADOBE !

I would be grateful if anyone could help me and I hope this is the right forum

Hi Chris,

Apologies for the delay in response, I hope you would be able to fix it by now

If the problem still persists, we need some information for a better understanding:

  1. What is the version of the Adobe Reade? To check the version of the product please follow the link- Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC
  2. Are you copying and pasting the file from your computer to external drive or are you creating the image of the actual file?
  3. Is this a behavior with a particular file or with any file you try to backup? If its a particular file, could you share the file with us for testing? To know more about how to send the file please refer to the article - How Do I Send Private Message

In the meantime, you may try the following steps:

  1. Provide the path of your external drive to Adobe Reader. Go to Adobe Reader>Preferences>Enhanced security>Privileged Locations>Add folder path.

Let us know if this works for you.

Regards,

Amal
