I am exasparated. I used to use Acrobat 8.0, I don't remember where it was but indenting, as I recall, was no big deal. HOWEVER, I have been using Acrobat Pro 2020 (which I purchased with my computer) for just about a year now. I do a lot of editing of PDF files and when using Word to create a document, I use the Indent feature all of the time. In a PDF file, using Acrobat, I can find the option to BULLETT or NUMBER items but for the life of me, I CANNOT find the option to simply indent a paragraph or section. I work on crochet patterns, I have a specific way of writing them using the following example:Round 1:The instructions for round 1, but I don't want the instruction section to have a bullet or a number, I simply want the section under Round 1: to be indented. People, I am dead serious, I am at the verge of tears. I have researched this for the entire time and cannot find any answers. Tonight when I tried to search it was all about people saying their registered copies were telling to re-register or it was not valid or some such. I see things about using the "Typing Tool" but I cannot find that, then I see there is no Typing Tool its something else but no visuals or what, to show how/where/what this is all about. I can find "Bullets" and "Numbers" but WHERE IS THE "Just indent" feature in Acrobat Pro 2020.

Hi, @Laurie.333, adding to what's been stated.

You say you've prepared the document in Word, process the document into PDF, and then start doing the formatting? With all due respect, that's not the wisest of workflows. As stated above, Acrobat is not a word processor or page layout program.

Just out of curiosity, do you use Styles in Word? Don't worry, many do not even know about Styles. However, this is one of the most powerful features in a word processing or Page Layout program

I just did a quick search, and found this youtube video explaining and showing how to use Word's built in styles and how to customize them as well (see 5'55"), and at 6'33" is shown indenting as part of a style that can be set.

This video is about 9'30" and if you do not use Styles, but learn how to use them from this (or any other source), it will save you hours of time in the future.

Thanks for the resource, I will most definitely check it out. I'm aware of styles, just don't use them. I'm a "do my own thang... kinda person" 🙂 I go back to my first word processor being "QLink" on a Commodore 64, and then when I got a job after moving to a new state... they had Amber monitors and "Word Star". I know, I'm totally dating myself... but it is what it is and I've always done my own editing. HOWEVER, maybe old dogs can learn new tricks (even if being dragged kicking and screaming into the 2024's) 🙂 I appreciate your time. Acobat was never, and will never be a word processor. Editing a PDF file should be restricted to the absolute minimum. Normally it's better to edit the source document for that, especially when correcting errors. The source document won't reflect the modifications otherwise.

Also, PDF files are created to reflect the original layout. However this is often done with strange elements and separate (text) boxes, instead of a comprehensive text flow. Consider the PDF a printed copy of your document.

I often use www.printfriendly.com to download a pattern when its free... that ends up being a solid mess in most cases with extra lines and those darn triangle thingies that collapse things which upsets me. So I TRY to edit it, but the only way I can find to "edit" to get an indent is to use bulleting> That would work if I could find out how to use this feature and pick "no bullet" as the bullet. I sound crazy, I know. Thanks for responding 🙂

This function does not exist in Acrobat, even in the latest version.

You must use a forced line return (Shift-Return) and push the line below with blank spaces.
