If it has been stuck on “Cancelling” for days, I’d treat it as a Creative Cloud installer process that didn’t close properly.

First, completely quit Creative Cloud and check Task Manager on Windows or Activity Monitor on Mac for any Adobe/Creative Cloud installer processes still running. End/force quit those processes, restart the computer, then open Creative Cloud again. Adobe recommends this approach when an Adobe installation process is stuck or conflicting in the background.

If it still shows “Cancelling” after the restart, try the Creative Cloud desktop app’s Repair option. If Repair doesn’t fix it, reinstalling Creative Cloud or using the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool may be needed if the installation records are corrupted.

It would also help to know whether this is on Windows or macOS, and which version of Creative Cloud you’re using.

The CC app won’t uninstall if other apps are still installed. I was able to quit all the background processes and install a freshly downloaded copy of the CC app.

You didn’t force quit it after 30 minutes or so? Usually when something like that happens to me., there is a dialog box waiting for a response usually hidden by another window.

    Hi @Captivating_leaderb378,

Thank you for reaching out, and we're sorry you're stuck on this. Having the Creative Cloud desktop app frozen on "Canceling" for days is incredibly frustrating, and we want to help you get past this.

The first thing to try is resetting the Creative Cloud desktop app. This often clears stuck processes without losing any data.

    • On Windows: Make sure Creative Cloud is in the foreground, then press Ctrl + Alt + R.

    • On Mac: Make sure Creative Cloud is in the foreground, then press Cmd + Option + R

After the reset completes, restart your Creative Cloud app and try your installation again.

If that doesn't clear it, here are the next steps to try in order:

Let us know how it goes, and we're here if you need help with the next steps.

    Thanks,

I would suggest uninstalling your Adobe Acrobat installation, then using Adobe’s AcroColeaner utility to be sure you’ve removed all remnants of the program.

I think you’ll have much better results removing your Acrobat installation than you will “canceling” it.

    Hope this helps,
