I have created fairly complex form for our time sheets. I have a Reader Extended EDITTING issue.

I have created fairly complex form for our time sheets. The form spans 4 weeks. It is converted to a reader extended/fillable PDF and placed in Dropbox for our employees to fill out. After week 1, i would like to EDIT the PDF and make all week 1 fields READ ONLY. The document is telling me, i have to save a copy, which I do, then it says you cannot edit this form... Any suggestions?

Previously it was only one…

But this not an issue, how are named your fields?

MA Week 1 Sunday, MA Week 1 Monday, MA Week 1 Tuesday etc

TE Week 1 Sunday, TE Week 1 Monday, etc

MA and TE are initials for employees, 25 employees, 7 days + a total field

Adobe Reader XI (11) and Acrobat Reader DC don't requires the form to be Reader-Extended.

If you want to lock only one field each week you should add a button in the form to do it.

I need to make about 200 fields read only. I don't see that option in a button. I will try 'non'-reader extened option and see how that works out.

You may need to close and reopen the saved PDF to clear the copy in memory.

How did you Reader Extend the form? Was this form created in LiveCycle designer?

If the form was created in LiveCycle Designer then this is normal behavior.

I created in Adobe Acrobat Pro.

I Reader Extened by Save As Other -> Reader Extended PDF -> Enable More Tools

Is that a correct way to extend it to make it fillable and signable?

A Reader-Extended PDF cannot be edited, you need to:

- "Save a copy" (Save a not Reader Extended copy),

- close the Reader-Extended PDF,

- open the not Reader-Extended copy.

This is a "Save a copy", not a "Save As".
