This usually isn’t a subscription issue. If your Adobe Creative Cloud apps are working but Adobe Acrobat won’t open, the problem is almost always installation or background process related.

Here’s how to fix it step by step:

    First, completely close Acrobat processes
Open Task Manager and end anything named Acrobat, AcroCEF, or Adobe PDF. Sometimes it runs in the background and blocks launch.

    Now try a clean repair
Go to Creative Cloud → Installed Apps → find Acrobat → click the three dots → Repair.
If repair option is not visible, uninstall it completely.

    Do a proper reinstall (important)
    Uninstall Acrobat from Creative Cloud
    Restart your system
Then install Acrobat again from Creative Cloud

    Check default PDF handler
Right click any PDF → Open with → Choose another app → select Acrobat → tick “Always use this app”
Sometimes Windows fails to link PDFs correctly.

Disable Protected Mode (if it opens briefly then crashes)
If Acrobat opens and closes instantly:
Hold Shift while launching Acrobat → then go to Preferences → Security (Enhanced) → uncheck Protected Mode

    Update Creative Cloud Desktop
Outdated Creative Cloud can cause Acrobat launch issues. Make sure it is fully updated.

    If still not opening
Run Adobe Cleaner Tool (official) and reinstall Acrobat fresh. This fixes corrupted installs.

Hello, ok this is what i have done previously
    Its gets to here

    First, completely close Acrobat processes
Open Task Manager and end anything named AcrobatAcroCEF, or Adobe PDF. Sometimes it runs in the background and blocks launch.

    Now try a clean repair
Go to Creative Cloud → Installed Apps → find Acrobat → click the three dots → Repair.
If repair option is not visible, uninstall it completely.

    I cant uninstall it
it gets to 1% then says - Progress is slower than usual in Blue, then stops uninstalling.
Now i cant reinstall from there or anything

And when i try uninstalling from the Windows machine, it says something about the Patch not being right as in my previous post.

So im kind of in limbo, thats why i thought i could install from a Download file rather than Creative Cloud

    PLease help

I’’ve had to use the AcroCleaner in the past. It doesn’t read like it is supposed to be used, but it cleans out all traces of Acrobat.

Can you please narrow down what is happening: Is your issue that you cannot download and install Adobe Acrobat, or is Acrobat installed, but does not open?

Or when you try to open a PDF, Acrobat does not open automatically?

Or you can open Acrobat but cannot open a PDF through the Open menu?

The post is a little vague.

Hi Karl and Dave, thanks for the reply.
I cant open PDF’s with acrobat now.

OK When i open Creative Cloud, i try to open adobe Acrobat and nothing happens
i then try and uninstall it from Creative Cloud as i cannot install from there and it drops out at 1%
then when i try uninstall it from my windows machine, a error comes up and says
“This Patch package could not be opened, contact the applicatyion vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer patch package"
So im stuck in limbo, i cant use it and i cant delete it.
Ive tried the Adobe cleaner and cleaner everthing from the computer
I also have lightroom and that can reinstall from creative cloud but acrobat does not.

I feel if i can just get it on my compuyter with a normal download then that would work
But all the downloads make CC open.

Hope that explains it enough, if not let me know

    Thanks
