I just purchased Adobe Acrobat 2017 because I thought it contained PDF/X1a:2001. I need to convert a huge Word manuscript into "flattened" format for digital printing. Also, for over $400.00, why is there an 'X' on the PDF icon in the printing mode?

Thank you for your response, as I did wonder why such an older version of

anything was useful. Meanwhile, I think I resolved the matter.

Did you buy Acrobat Standard or Acrobat Pro?

Do your printers (the people running the digital print service) suggest PDF/X1a:2001 and "flattening", whatever that is? It's a very old-fashioned choice.

Where do you see an "X"?
