I'm having problems installing Acrobat DC on a new computer.

During the installation process, the installer keeps asking me to identify the previous Acobat DC to update.  But none exists.  So the installation fails. I had previously copied an Acrobat Pro from my old computer but this is not recognized as a previous version of Acrobat DC.  How can I get around this?

you can't copy programs from one computer to another unless you want lots of problems.

delete whatever you copied.

you can either properly install the previous version or select from the dropdown during installation of acrobat dc and then enter its (the previous version's) serial number.
