Question

I'm using Adobe acrobat to type simple text. This a tax return made by the IRS. The "@" sign is appearing between each word. How do I get rid of it? Thank You.

as an example:

123456@@92nd@avenue

Kirkland,@@@WA

The @ sign doesn’t appear when I’m typing in the field, only when I leave it.

    Hello @Mike33249326tzke,

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. We're sorry for the trouble you had.

Could you please share more details about the issue?

    1. Which app and version are you using: Adobe Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Pro, and what version/build ( Menu > Help > About Acrobat)?

    2. What’s your OS (Windows / macOS), and does this happen on all PDF forms or just this IRS form?

    3. Is the form a fillable PDF from the IRS website, and are you using Fill & Sign or typing directly into form fields?

    4. Have you tried with a different PDF form?

    Suggestions:

Make sure you're filling the form in Adobe Acrobat/Reader, not a web browser.

    • Save the PDF to your computer.

    • Open it directly in Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader, then complete the form. Adobe recommends using Acrobat/Reader for interactive PDF forms. Please check this article for more information: https://adobe.ly/4wMWegc

If the issue only affects this IRS form:

    • The form field's appearance or formatting may be corrupted or incorrectly configured by the form author. Since the @ Characters are added only after the field loses focus. Acrobat is likely displaying the field according to the form's embedded formatting rather than inserting characters that you typed.

Please let us know how it goes, and reach out if you need any assistance.

    Regards,

    Anand Sri.
