I need to compress a PDF to 40KB and seems not to have a head way with that

To get your PDF as small as possible, here's the built-in Advanced Optimization process:

1. Open your PDF in Acrobat.

2. On Windows, go to Menu > Save as Other > Optimized PDF (on macOS, File > Save as Other > Optimized PDF).

3. In the dialog, select Standard from the Settings dropdown.

4. Adjust these panels to reduce size further: Images (downsample and compress), Fonts (unembed or subset), Discard Objects (remove thumbnails and flatten fields), and Discard User Data (remove comments and private metadata).

5. Choose a location and save.

Since your resume is likely text-heavy with maybe a small header image or logo, removing any embedded images/graphics and unembedding fonts will make the biggest difference, since plain text alone compresses very well.

One thing worth knowing: Acrobat doesn't let you target an exact file size like "40KB precisely," it only lets you push compression as far as the content allows. If 40KB is a hard requirement from a job portal or application system, most simple, mostly-text one or two-page resumes should get well under that once images and embedded fonts are stripped out, but there's no dial that guarantees hitting an exact number.
