Question

I need to know if Adobe Acrobat XI Pro for Windows will allow me to create a text searchable pdf from a scanned document?

I work for a non-profit law firm and the court's efiling requirements have changed in that they want all of our pdf documents to be text searchable. Our current all in one copier scanners don't have this function and only create an image of the document saved in a pdf format. So I need to know if Adobe Acrobat XI will allow me to take the scanned document and convert and save it to a Text Searchable document.

You can run the OCR on a currently open file, or even multiple files that you designate.  If you Click on Tools>Text Recognition, you'll find the tools and settings there.  I have used this extensiveness, and under the right document quality circumstances - can do a great job!  I recommend experimenting with the Recognize Text settings to see which output style works best for your needs.

This is known as OCR, Optical Character Recognition. Acrobat Pro support this and has form field detection tool as well as a number of tools for creating form fields and interactive fields.
