Import XML in PDF form not working

Yesterday 19 Jan. 2026 I have made a form in Indesign and Acrobat, in which I was able to import my XML-file. Today after making a few changes to only the plain text of the file, not the fields or field names, I cannot import the XML-file anymore.

When I try to do so, I do not get an error of some sorts, after I have selected the file and clicken "open" the pop-up for selecting the file disapears and further nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? I also tried in a new, empty file to place just the fields i can import, without any more rules, but the same happens.

Also I have tried to Import an txt file, which also worked yesterday. Also the files that worked yesterday aren't working anymore. I have already uninstalled and installed acrobat again and don't know what more I can do.

Update:

I remade the XML-file, with another XMLschema format and now it is working

@flxmarketing are you saying it worked before and now it doesn't? Was this before an update or after? I am thinking it's a corrupted preferences if it worked the other day and purging your prferencs is all it takes.

PC: Close Acrobat. Go to C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\[Version] Go to that folder (you may need to "Show Hidden Files" in Windows Explorer). Rename the Preferences folder to Preferences_old. When you restart Acrobat, it will create a brand-new, clean folder.

MAC: Quit Acrobat. Go to ~/Library/Preferences. Move com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist to the Trash. Restart your Mac and then open Acrobat.

If Acrobat opens and your tools look "factory new" (like the first time you installed it), then the reset worked. You should go back and make sure your deleting Preferences_old or empty the trash can. These folders contain the corrupted settings that were likely causing your XML import to fail.

Thank you for your reply, sadly deleting/resetting the preferences didn't help. I still get the same "issue".

If you need to help me any further, I can provide you with the files (PDF and XML etc.) I have been working with?
