Question

In a new PDF file of a contract, text not showing on completed PDF from Docusign. Getting the error code: There was an error processing a page. Bad font object or font descriptor object. How do I fix? PDF works in Apple Preview

The error points to a problem with a font object or font descriptor inside the PDF. The fact that Apple Preview can display the text does not necessarily mean the PDF is valid enough for Acrobat to process every page correctly.

If you have Acrobat Pro, I’d make a copy of the completed PDF and try All tools > Use print production > Preflight, then look for a fixup related to font problems. Adobe Community has recommended the “Fix potential font problems” Preflight fixup for this specific type of error.

Since the PDF is coming from DocuSign, I’d also try downloading the completed document again rather than using the first copy. If the same text is missing, I’d ask the sender to regenerate the completed PDF or check whether the original contract contains an unusual or improperly embedded font.

If you can open the PDF in Acrobat at all, it would also be useful to check File > Properties > Fonts and see whether any fonts show unusual embedding information. That could help identify the specific font causing the page-processing error.

I was able to print the document as a new pdf that showed the file correctly. I showed no missing fonts in the original download. Very strange.
